Privacy Policy

ReminderMAP is a Mac app that adds a planning layer on top of Apple Reminders. It has no user accounts, no servers of ours, and no analytics. Your tasks stay in Apple Reminders and everything ReminderMAP adds stays on your Mac.

This policy is written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, write to privacy@remindermap.com and we will explain it.

Who we are

ReminderMAP is made by DOZYWAVE LTD, a company registered in the United Kingdom. For anything relating to this policy, contact privacy@remindermap.com.

The short version

  • We operate no server that receives your task data. There is nowhere for it to go.
  • There is no account, no sign in, and no user identifier of any kind.
  • The app contains no analytics, no crash reporting, and no tracking of any kind.
  • Everything ReminderMAP adds on top of your reminders is stored in a database file on your own Mac.

Access to Apple Reminders

On first launch the app walks you through three things before anything happens: that your data stays on this Mac and is not uploaded, that syncing from Apple Reminders only starts when you press the button, and how the structure works. Then macOS asks you to grant ReminderMAP access to your reminders. On macOS 14 and later this is the full access permission, because the app both reads your lists and writes your changes back.

ReminderMAP reads and writes your reminders only through EventKit, Apple's official interface. It never touches the Reminders app's own database directly. Your reminders remain under Apple's control and continue to sync through iCloud exactly as they did before, according to Apple's privacy policy.

ReminderMAP changes a reminder only when you ask it to. It does not reorganise, reschedule or rewrite your reminders on its own.

If you revoke this permission in System Settings, ReminderMAP can no longer read or write your reminders. The planning data already on your Mac is not deleted.

What ReminderMAP stores on your Mac

Apple Reminders has no field for the things a plan actually needs, so ReminderMAP keeps them in its own database file on your Mac:

  • Groups and the tree structure you arrange your tasks into
  • Task status and, where you write one, the note describing what a task is stuck on
  • The work log on each task
  • Local settings and a record of recent changes so that undo works

This file never leaves your Mac unless you move it yourself. You can export all of it to JSON at any time from inside the app, including when you have no active subscription.

Backups

ReminderMAP backs up its database automatically. By default the backups are written inside the app's own container on your Mac.

If you choose a different backup folder, the data goes where you point it.Many people pick a folder inside iCloud Drive so that a dead disk cannot take the backups with it. That is a reasonable choice, but it does mean a copy of your planning data is then stored in your iCloud account and handled under Apple's privacy policy rather than staying purely local. The choice is yours and the app does not make it for you.

Purchases

ReminderMAP is free to download, with an optional subscription. All payments are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details.

To decide whether your subscription is active, the app asks StoreKit, Apple's purchase framework, which verifies the receipt on your device. This check does not involve any server of ours. Apple collects and processes purchase data under Apple's privacy policy. What reaches us is aggregated sales reporting in App Store Connect, which does not identify you.

AI access

ReminderMAP can expose a local endpoint so that an AI assistant you already use can read and change your planning layer. This feature is off unless you turn it on.

  • The endpoint listens only on 127.0.0.1, your own machine. It is not reachable from your network or from the internet, and it requires a token that the app generates locally. You can reset that token at any time.
  • The app requests the network server capability from macOS purely so that this local endpoint can start. ReminderMAP makes no outbound network connections of its own.
  • The ability to make changes, as opposed to only reading, is a separate switch that is off by default. Before the first change is made, the app writes a full backup of its database, and every change is recorded in the work log and can be undone.

Your AI assistant is a third party. When you connect one, whatever it reads from ReminderMAP may be sent to that provider by their software, and what happens to it is governed by their privacy policy, not ours. We have no visibility into that and no relationship with those providers. Please read the policy of whichever assistant you connect.

This website

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. It loads no fonts, scripts or images from third party services.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Workers. We run no web server of our own and we keep no access log of our own. Cloudflare serves every request, acts as our processor, and retains its own logs under its privacy policy.

The feedback form on the support page is the one part of this site that runs code rather than returning a file. Cloudflare records those requests, including the address they came from, and keeps that record for three days on our plan. We read it only to find out why a message failed to send. Reading a page does not run that code and leaves no such record.

The support page carries a form you can use to send us a problem without leaving the page. What you submit there passes through a Cloudflare Worker to Resend, an email delivery service, and ends up as a single email in our inbox. Sent along with your message are:

  • the email address you enter, which we use only to answer that one message
  • the kind of question you pick, and roughly how many reminders you have if you choose to say
  • your app version, macOS version and interface language, filled in for you when you arrive from the app
  • your IP address

The IP address is also used to limit how often submissions can arrive from one source, which keeps automated junk out. We build no database of these submissions: apart from that rate limiting counter, the Worker in the middle stores nothing. Cloudflare and Resend both act as processors here, each under its own privacy policy. You are welcome to skip the form entirely and simply email us.

Whether it arrives through the form or as your own email, we keep that correspondence so that we can help you and remember the context if you write again.

Your rights

Because we hold almost nothing about you, most data requests have a short answer. The planning data lives on your Mac, where you can read, export or delete it yourself at any time, with no involvement from us.

Where the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act apply, you have the right to ask what personal data we hold, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to processing, and to receive a copy. In practice this concerns email correspondence and server logs. Write to privacy@remindermap.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell personal information and never have.

If you are in the UK or the EU and you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to your data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

Children

ReminderMAP is a productivity tool for adults. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and describe the change in the app's release notes. Material changes will be noted in the app itself.
